LATEST MEMBERS

The Green Biz Committee was set up in 2013 and includes members from a range of different sectors; members either have activities directly linked to environmentally friendly practices or include environmentally friendly practices in their business processes. The Green Biz Committee aims to raise awareness, but also advocate the interests to government and facilitate the creation of more preferable conditions for the practice of green business and the widespread adoption of green solutions in Cambodia.

Key concerns

The main obstacles for Green Biz Committee members are related to the lack of a financial and fiscal framework to provide incentives for green practices in business, the lack of awareness and the need for further regulation of standards and criteria.

More specifically, the main issues Green Biz members face are related to:

• Renewable energy feed in to the grid and feed in tariffs;
• VAT exemptions;
• Import tax rates;
• Building code;
• Lack of awareness of climate change and environmental conditions;
• Need to use of sustainable materials, e.g. bamboo.

Aims and Objectives

The key objectives of the Green Biz Committee are:

• To identify how sustainable and efficient practices can be combined with business to achieve profitable, environmentally friendly investments;
• To share best practices of green business;
• To present business opportunities in the areas of sustainable development and green economy;
• To highlight the importance of green and sustainable practices in business.

Actions

EuroCham Cambodia and the EuroCham Green Biz Committee are launching Vision 2030, a Green Biz Event bringing together public and private sector decision makers to share best practices and discuss opportunities for innovative, competitive and lucrative green business opportunities.
