ACTED in Cambodia works primarily with the hospitality industry working to improve working conditions, in particular by supporting employers to abide by the Cambodian Labour Law and reduce the risk of sexual gender based violence in their establishments. As part of this work ACTED is currently implementing a European Union funded “Workers Sabay” project in conjunction with the Ministry of Tourism, the Phnom Penh Department of Labour and the Cambodian Food and Service Workers Federation (CFSWF).
This project aims to certify hospitality businesses who abide by Cambodian Labour Law as “worker friendly”, provide free training to employers and employees on the Cambodian Labour Law, and promote certified establishments to Cambodian and international tourists. In addition, ACTED is also working with the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sport to develop an innovative and sustainable model for Community Learning Centres (CLCs).
ACTED is a French humanitarian NGO, founded in 1994 with a mission to save lives and assist people with their needs during crises including conflict, natural disaster and socio-economic hardship. ACTED believes every human being has the right to live in dignity and as such we work to co-create new possibilities and sustainable change by investing in people’s potential. Our interventions seek to cover the multiple aspects of humanitarian and development crises through a multidisciplinary approach which is both global and local, and adapted to each context. Globally our 3,300 staff are committed to responding to emergencies worldwide, to support recovery and rehabilitation, towards sustainable development.
Our teams in the field implement some 340 projects across 34 countries focusing on three key pillars:
(1) Responding toemergencies and building disaster resilience;
(2) Strengthening Civil Society, Effective Governance and Social Cohesion; and
(3) Promoting Inclusive and Sustainable Growth.
