Amret is one of the leading microfinance institutions in Cambodia, serving with a full range of financial services micro, small and medium businesses and farmers, as well as low to medium income individuals, and aiming at positively impacting Cambodian economy and people 's living standards. It is owned by renown international organizations: Advans, FMO and IFC.

Background

Amret (formerly EMT) was created in 1991, by the French NGO GRET. It transformed in 2000 into a private limited liability company and received its MFI license in Cambodia in 2001. It was renamed Amret in 2004. In 2008, Advans SA, an international group of microfinance operating in 9 countries and headquarted in Paris, became lead shareholder, other shareholders being FMO, PROCARCO, Oikocredit and GRET. Amret obtained a Deposit taking License in 2011, diversifying its products. In 2015, Amret became a full subsidiary of the Advans group (majority shareholder), and IFC entered its capital. In 2018, Amret serves 400,000 clients in 156 branches all over Cambodia. Its assets amounts USD 800 M.
