Online Business Registration Platform

On 7 December 2015, the Ministry of Commerce in Cambodia made a remarkable move in inaugurating and demonstrating Online Business Registration platform and the automation system for issuing Certificate of Origin (C/O). H.E. Mr. George Edgar, Ambassador of EU delegation to Cambodia, H.E. Mr. Allassane Sow, Country Manager of the World Bank, Mr. Emmanuel Menanteau, EuroCham Chair and representatives of the relevant Ministries and private sector were present in the Inauguration Ceremony.

Starting from the early January 2016, companies can make an e-payment for their business registration in Cambodia which costs 1,680,000Riel (around S420). According to H.E. Sun Chanthol, Minister of Commerce, the benefits of this initiative include:

Reducing the time to register the company from 5-7 days to 1 hour
Changing from paper base to fully automated registration
Cutting down the human interface between official of the ministry and applicant
Allowing the applicant to register the company from anywhere in the country and in the world without coming to the Ministry of Commerce
Allowing the payment of the application fee by Electronic Payment
Allowing the applicant to print his own certificate of incorporation
Synchronizing the database with other relevant government ministries and agencies
Easing the research of public information of the existing companies

As for companies who have already registered at the Ministry before the online registration, they have to re-register using the online registration system by March 31, 2016. The Ministry will not charge the re-registration, but late re-registration might result in penalty.
