HR Forum 2016
EuroCham put on its third annual HR Forum on June 16th at the Intercontinental Hotel in Phnom Penh. This half-day conference was hosted by high level speakers from the Royal Government who shared their expertise on HR-related issues.
A special focus was given to two of Cambodia’s least understood regulations affecting HR managers and small business owners: Training of Apprentice and the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).
If an employer provides work for more than 60 employees, 10% of the workforce must follow an apprenticeship scheme; a scheme intended to enhance Cambodian employee’s skills and make them more marketable in the future.
The NSSF regulation applies to businesses with eight or more employees and was established as a social security fund for workers’ protection and well-being. Funded by the employer’s contribution, it provides occupational injury insurance to workers. The compensation or benefits are categorized as followings:
Medical treatment benefit
Temporary disablement benefit
Nursing benefit
Permanent disablement benefit
Constant attendance benefit
Survivors benefit
After a depth explanation on these new laws, a Q/A session followed.
