Postponement of Water Festival 2015
On October 31, 2015, the Royal Government has issued a Circular No. 07 on Postponement of Water Festival 2015.
In the Circular, it provided that due to the fact that the river level is now too low this year and Cambodia is facing drought which requires more manpower and means to settle the lack of water for dry rice plant of provincial farmers, the Royal Government would like to suggest some guidelines as the following:
1. Postpone the Water Festival to be celebrated along the Tonle Sap river, in front of Royal Palace of Phnom Penh, on 24th-25th-26th November 2015.
2. The Water Festival preparation at provinces can be celebrated as normal based upon each local authority.
3. The 3 Days-off of the festival for civil servant and workers shall be maintained as stated in Sub-decree No. 268 អនក្រ.បក dated 06th June 2014 on Public Holiday Calendar of Civil Servant and Worker for Year 2015.
4. All related ministries, institutions and municipal/provincial department shall pay attention and find solutions to the drought to avoid the plantation damage of farmers, especially during this dry season this year.
