Advancing Low-Carbon, Bankable Buildings in Cambodia

About this event

Through 2025–2026, ALCBT built Cambodia’s first national building registry (1,235 buildings) and completed deep-dive energy assessments of 250 buildings across residential, commercial, hospitality, retail, educational, governmental, and healthcare typologies in Phnom Penh and Kandal Province. Using the Building Emission Assessment Tool (BEAT), the project established Cambodia’s first Energy Performance Index (EPI) benchmarks and identified 12 high-impact Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) already available on the local market — most with paybacks under four years. After the completion of assessment, the ALCBT project has conducted awareness raising workshops to disseminate the findings and facilitate access to concessional green finance from the local Financial Institutions (FI).

In partnership with the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham), ALCBT is organizing a workshop to bring together the members of the EuroCham Real Estate Committee, Green Business Committee and other relevant stakeholders such as the developers, asset owners, facility managers, financial institutions and the wider (green) businesses community.

This dedicated workshop with EuroCham’s Real Estate Committee and Green Business Committee would let ALCBT share deep-dive assessment results, Green Building Design and Taxonomy, and available green finance offerings in Cambodia. This event will give GGGI-ALCBT direct insight into private-sector priorities and barriers to investment pipeline development for LCB.

Objectives

  • Present key findings from ALCBT’s deep-dive energy assessments and the project approach to the private sector to promote LCB investments.
  • Introduce the sustainable finance taxonomy for building sector, green building scheme, and the available green finance facilities in Cambodia.
  • Strengthen ALCBT’s partnership with EuroCham as a channel for continued private-sector engagement in Cambodia’s low-carbon building transition.
