EuroCham Cambodia Marks Close of 2026 Committee Elections with Leadership Appreciation Reception

Phnom Penh, 25 September 2026 — EuroCham Cambodia gathered outgoing and newly elected committee leaders and members on Friday, 25 September at Raintree in Phnom Penh for a Committee Leadership Appreciation Reception, marking the close of a month-long election cycle across the Chamber’s 12 Sectoral Committees. The evening brought together committee members to thank outgoing leaders for their work over the past mandate and welcome incoming leadership for 2026–2028. The evening also served to recognise the committees whose engagement, activities and advocacy stood out over the past two years.

Opening the evening, Dr. Antoine Fontaine, Secretary General of EuroCham reflected on the role committees play at the Chamber.

“Committees are at the heart of EuroCham’s work. They bring together members facing similar challenges, help turn their experiences into practical recommendations, and give businesses a collective voice in discussions with ministries,” Dr. Antoine Fontaine, Secretary General of EuroCham.

Dr. Fontaine also shared several findings from this year’s elections that point to growing member engagement with the committee system. The number of candidates standing for committee positions has grown by 38% since 2024, comfortably outpacing the Chamber’s 13% growth in overall membership over the same period. Leadership is also becoming more representative of EuroCham’s diverse membership base: SMEs now account for 54% of committee leaders, up from 38% in 2024, and women now make up one third of elected representatives, up from a quarter in 2024.

Committee Achievements

For the first time, EuroCham looked back across the full 2024–2026 mandate to recognise the committees that went above and beyond, presenting awards in three categories.

Membership Engagement — The Human Resources Committee was recognised for keeping members connected throughout the year, meeting more than once a month on average and building its monthly HR Talks into a regular forum for members to share ideas and learn from one another.

Events & Other Activities — The FMCG Committee was applauded for building strong relationships with government and delivering a wide range of activities, including two FMCG forums and a breakfast talk on responsible marketing, alongside contributions to discussions on labelling requirements, the open-lid issue, product liability, multi-level marketing, and the upcoming ban on prize-based promotions.

Advocacy — The Transport & Logistics Committee was commended for its sustained work with government on priorities including 24-hour operations at the Sihanoukville Autonomous Port, simpler customs clearance, reduced paperwork, pre-arrival processing, customs digitalisation, scanner fees, and procedures for low-value shipments — work that has already helped reduce clearance times for certain goods and cut processing costs for members.

Special Recognition: A Decade-Long Push on Construction Standards

The Real Estate & Construction Committee also received special recognition for the marking Cambodia’s move to adopt the Eurocodes, internationally recognised standards for designing buildings and other structures. This adoption represents as a milestone more than a decade in the making, first championed by the Committee over ten years ago and kept on the agenda through sustained engagement with government and industry partners ever since.

Following Dr. Fontaines remarks, EuroCham’s Advocacy team took the opportunity to re-introduce participants to the different Chamber departments and explain their respective roles and responsibilities and how they support committee activities. A presentation on EuroCham’s latest Advocacy initiative, a digital red tape tracking platform, provided the motivation behind this ongoing initiative and how it ties into EuroCham’s broader advocacy work.

Looking Ahead: Committee Roadmaps

With elections now complete across all 12 committees, each body will develop a Committee Roadmap, one-page plans setting out the priorities, advocacy work, partnerships and key activities for 2026–2028. The roadmaps will build on issues members raised during election meetings, align with relevant EU priorities and support programs, and draw on collaboration with other business chambers and aligned insitutions where useful.

EuroCham thanks all participants, outgoing and incoming leadership, and all of its members for contributing to a dynamic European business community in Cambodia.
