Italian Night at Meta House - Sunday, 14 May
As part of Eurocham's 'Europe Week', the ICBA Arts Committee, in collaboration with curator Davide Posca, will schedule a FREE screening of the beautiful Italian film The Legend of 1900 (screened in its original English version).
The Legend of 1900 is a 1998 Italian film directed by Giuseppe Tornatore. The story revolves around the life of a pianist named Danny Boodmann T.D. Lemon Nineteen Hundred, also known as "1900", who was born and raised on a transatlantic ocean liner at the turn of the 20th century. He never left the ship, but his remarkable talent for playing the piano made him a legend among the passengers and crew.
The film explores themes of identity, artistic expression, and the human condition, as seen through the eyes of a man who is both an outsider and an insider to the world around him. As "1900" grows into adulthood, he must confront the realities of the changing world outside the ship, including war, love, and loss.
The screening will serve as a preview for The Piano Trilogy concert, also at Meta House (first night May 20th, second night June 17th). The central subject of both the film and the concert is the piano, as a medium of expression.
Genova Italian Restaurant is preparing specialties for this evening including Fettuccine al Pesto and Focaccia all Genovese.
