Details

ESG stands for Environmental, Social, and Governance, a framework for assessing an organisation's long-term value creation and risk management in these areas. In Southeast Asia, including Cambodia, ESG principles are a recent development, and businesses and people are largely unfamiliar with them. Although some companies practice ethical behaviors, formal ESG integration is rare, and there are no specific laws or regulations dedicated solely to ESG in Cambodia.

In agriculture, ESG is particularly important due to the sector's significant impact on the environment, communities, and economies. Sustainable agricultural practices can mitigate environmental risks such as deforestation, soil degradation, and water scarcity. As global demand for ESG compliance grows, integrating these principles in agriculture becomes crucial for Cambodian businesses to maintain competitiveness, access international markets, and contribute to sustainable development.

On this note, the EuroCham’s AgriBusiness Committee will hold a Breakfast Talk Environmental, Social and Governance: Facilitator for Agribusiness on Friday 7th June from 8:30AM to 11:40AM at Oakwood Premier Phnom Penh

During this morning's event, we will cover:

  • The regulatory framework for ESG in agriculture at both local and global levels.
  • The challenges faced by private companies in implementing ESG practices in real-life.
  • A review of how international regulations on ESG apply to Cambodia.

This event aims to highlight the importance of ESG in shaping a sustainable and responsible future for agriculture. Whether you are a farmer, agribusiness professional, or industry enthusiast, this event is a must-attend!
