Course Description – Cybersecurity Fundamentals

Worried about Cyber Threats but not sure where to start?

The Cybersecurity Fundamentals course is a comprehensive 2-day training designed to provide participants with an understanding of cybersecurity principles and practices.

This course covers the essential concepts and terminology related to cybersecurity, equipping learners with the knowledge to identify and manage various types of cyber threats such as phishing, malware, and ransomware.

Participants will gain practical skills in implementing security measures to protect personal and organisational data and will learn to evaluate incident response strategies to effectively handle cybersecurity breaches or attacks.

Additionally, the course emphasises the importance of compliance with legal regulations and standards, ensuring participants understand their role in maintaining a secure environment across different industries.

This training is ideal for individuals looking to build their cybersecurity knowledge and apply it in a real-world context to safeguard data and systems.

By the end of this two-day course, participants will be able to:

The Trainer

Dr. Movsun Kuy
Cybersecurity & Network Systems Specialist

 

Dr. Movsun Kuy is one of Cambodia’s foremost cybersecurity and network engineering experts, serving as the trainer for the Certificate in Cybersecurity Fundamentals course at Lotus Academy.
Holding a Ph.D. in Computer Networks jointly awarded by the University of Namur (Belgium) and the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), Dr. Kuy’s research focused on Software-Defined Networking (SDN), Network Function Virtualisation (NFV), and Edge Computing—critical technologies for secure, scalable infrastructures in the digital age.

At ITC, he serves as both Lecturer and Program Coordinator for the IT Network and Programming stream, where he designs and delivers curriculum across core modules including Network Security, System Administration, and Network Design. He also co-directs the Cybersecurity and Network Research Lab, leading applied research projects on secure IoT systems, multi-cloud orchestration, and 5G-readiness.

Dr. Kuy’s technical proficiency spans:
➢ Cybersecurity Fundamentals: Firewall configuration, threat detection, penetration testing, and incident response
➢ Network Engineering: Advanced SDN/NFV orchestration, virtualisation, and IoT security

Dean of the School of Digital Engineering, Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT)
 

Dr. Cheab Sovuthy is a nationally respected academic, technology innovator, and contributing trainer for the Certificate in Cybersecurity Fundamentals course at Lotus Academy.
He holds a Ph.D. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering from Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (Malaysia), where his pioneering research in RF and Microwave Engineering earned multiple international awards and resulted in patents for advanced filter design technologies. His expertise spans high-frequency systems, embedded architecture, and wireless communication—making him a leading figure in Southeast Asia’s digital transformation efforts.

As Dean of the School of Digital Engineering at the Cambodia Academy of Digital Technology (CADT), Dr. Sovuthy plays a critical role in shaping Cambodia’s digital talent development strategy. He leads national curriculum design in key areas such as IoT, 5G, and Industry 4.0, while overseeing the training and mentoring of future engineers and digital professionals.

Dr. Sovuthy’s career includes serving as:
