In this webinar session, you will be able to hear from our leading real estate & construction experts and professionals on:

  • Identify which constructions materials could contain hazardous components;
  • The role played by asbestos in the Cambodian construction sector and its impacts on human health;
  • The reasons why asbestos should be ban from the Cambodian construction sector;
  • The CCF Laboratory: a public laboratory under the Ministry of Commerce which provides a solution for testing materials in Cambodia.

Mr. Michel  CASSAGNES, Managing Director at Archetype Cambodia, Country Representative of CTBUH, and Chairman of the EuroCham Real Estate & Construction Committee

Michel Cassagnes, Architect & Managing Director of Archetype Cambodia & Laos, has more than 20 years’ experience in several countries: Portugal, France, Australia, China, Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. He has practiced architecture and urban design while conducting multi-disciplinary design teams. Michel has worked on a wide range of projects from shopping centers in China and Vietnam to hotels & resorts in Vietnam, Laos and Australia to residential and commercial buildings in Cambodia. His design team won the BCI 2015 Green Leadership award for the Laurelton Diamonds Project in Phnom Penh.

Michel is actively involved in the construction industry in Cambodia through various Eurocham committees -- Real Estate & Construction and Green Biz -- with a specific focus on green buildings. He was also a judge at last year’s Asia Property Awards.

Charles has a wide experience in all aspects of real estate law with a particular focus on sales and acquisitions, asset management, construction and hospitality. Charles is a qualified lawyer admitted to the Paris Bar since 15 years and he is professor in Construction Law at the Royal University of Law and Economics.​

Mr. Phillip HAZELTON, Manager of the Eliminating Asbestos Related Diseases Program at APHEDA

Phillip has worked in international development, health and policy for over 30 years. He has been based in Asia for 15 of those years, including Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. He was Executive Officer of the Australian based international development agency, APHEDA, from 1990-2001 and has worked for both the ILO (Chief Technical Officer Industrial Relations Project 2013-2016 Vietnam) and for APHEDA in various program management roles. Phillip also worked on asbestos policy and risk issues in Australia 2006-2009. Phillip is currently Manager of the Eliminating Asbestos Related Diseases Program for APHEDA and currently lives in Cambodia. The program operates across 4 countries in SE Asia. 

Mr. CHHAY Phalroth, Deputy Director, Directorate General of CCF

Mr. Phalroth is Deputy Director of CCF Laboratory who will join that webinar and do a short presentation on hazardous impacts of asbestos to human health, Local testing service for asbestos containing products by CCF Laboratory technically supported by Apheda under AusAID.

He has background on Food Technology, graduated bachelor degree from institute of Technology of Cambodia ( L’ITC) in 1995 and start working for Camcontrol Laboratory since March, 1996. In 2005, He has finished his MBA for while working for Laboratory of Camcontrol which is now Directorate General of Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression (CCF).

Mr. Michael FREEMAN, Vice President Contracting at Comin Asia 

Michael has been based in Cambodia since June 2016 after 10 years in the Middle East. With a background in mechanical engineering, Michael moved into project management and operations management and delivered projects in infrastructure, oil and gas, commercial and healthcare sectors before moving on to a new challenge with Comin. Since joining Comin, Michael has overseen projects including Sathapana Tower, Hyatt Regency Hotel and Picasso City Garden in Cambodia among many others.
