On Tuesday 28th September 2021, the Ministry of Environment along with Mekong Future Initiative, through the Cambodia Climate Change Change Submit 2021 (CCCS21) will bring together speakers from the Royal Government of Cambodia, foreign donors, local and international businesses, NGOs and others to present cutting-edge solutions and showcase Cambodia's efforts toward sustainability and mitigating the impacts of climate change.

CCCS21 will be organized along four main themes corresponding with four approaches to addressing the impacts of climate change in Cambodia. This online summit will have different panels discussion from various key stakeholders, policymakers, leaders in environmental solutions to address the impacts of climate change in the Kingdom.

EuroCham will partake in one of the panel discussions under the topic “Cambodia's Transition Towards a Carbon Neutral Economy: The European Perspective” from 12:45PM – 1:30PM.

This panel will focus on the discussion about how a carbon neutral future for Cambodia might look like. CEOs of well-known corporate companies will present their climate ambitions as well as difficulties and challenges that exist to help and inspire other companies in their sustainability journey. The panel discussion will also explore policy, technology, and financing gaps towards a carbon neutral future of Cambodia.

EuroCham Panelists

HE. Dr. TIN Ponlok, Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment

Dr. Tin Ponlok joined the Cambodian Ministry of Environment in 1994 after receiving his PhD degree in technical sciences from the former Soviet Union in the same year. From 1996-2009 he had been managing a number of environment, energy and climate change projects in Cambodia. Between 2009-2020 he served as Secretary-General of the National Council for Sustainable Development (NCSD). He now works as Secretary of State of the Ministry of Environment and Second Chair of the NCSD.

Mr. Clemens BECKERS, Attaché for Natural Resources and Climate Change at the EU Delegation in Cambodia

Clemens Beckers is attaché for natural resources and climate change at the EU Delegation in Cambodia. Previously, he was coordinator of development cooperation with different countries at the European Commission and worked as a policy advisor on environmental policies at the OECD. He started his career in development cooperation with GIZ (German Development Agency). 

He holds a master’s degree in economics from the Technical University in Berlin and completed postgraduate studies on development policy at the German Development Institute. 

Mr. Tassilo BRINZER, Chairman of Eurocham Cambodia

Mr. Tassilo BRINZER, Chairman of Eurocham Cambodia

Living in Cambodia since 2001, Tassilo co-founded Southeastern Globe Communications, a regional media company based in the Kingdom with publications such as Southeastasiaglobe.com, Discover Cambodia, Focus Cambodia and since 2020, Focus - Ready for Tomorrow (Khmer).

He is also the founder of Brains Communication, a PR & marketing consultancy, and Hops Craft Brewery, both in Phnom Penh.

Tassilo has been leading the German Business Group in Cambodia (ADW) since 2010 and is co-founder of the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, of which he became Chairman in 2020.

Dr. Susanne BODACH, Chairwoman of the Eurocham Green Business Committee and Managing Director of BEE Incorporations (Cambodia)

Dr. Susanne Bodach is an international expert on energy, climate, and sustainability and has over 15 years of working experience with research institutions, development agencies and the private sector companies. She is Managing Director of BEE Incorporations in Cambodia, a multi-national consultancy company headquartered in Asia that delivers sustainability solutions for green and healthy buildings worldwide. Since 2020, Dr. Susanne Bodach is EuroCham Board Member and Chairwomen of the EuroCham's Green Business Committee. 

Mr. Jorge BAIGORRI, CEO of Chip Mong Insee Cement Corporation (CMIC)

Mr Jorge Baigorri, a Spanish national, has been the CEO of Chip Mong Insee corporation (CMIC) since July 15, 2021.

Mr Jorge has 20 years of relevant experience in the building material industry, having held various roles in finance, strategy and general management in the Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa, Middle East, and Latin America. Jorge’s last two roles have been as Head of Strategy and Business Development for the Asia-Pacific and most recently CEO of Holcim Ecuador.

Mr. Prayag CHITRAKAR​, Country Manager​ at DHL Express Cambodia​

Mr. Prayag CHITRAKAR​, Country Manager​ at DHL Express Cambodia​

Prayag was born and raised in Nepal. He first arrived in Cambodia in 1999 and ever since has rooted himself in this country. He got married and raised a family; similarly he also devoted his entire career to DHL Express. He is one of the pioneers to the growth of the logistics industry in Cambodia. With more than 20 years of experience with DHL Express Cambodia, Prayag witnessed how the country and DHL businesses evolved over the years. He started his career in sales and marketing and with his excellent people and leadership skills couple with successful business track records, he took over the role as Country Manager in 2012 and led the Cambodian team towards continuous double digits growth year on year. ​

Ms. Anne OLLIVIER, Corporate Affairs Director, HEINEKEN Cambodia

Anne Ollivier is the Corporate Affairs Director of HEINEKEN Cambodia for almost 2 years. She is a weathered Corporate Affairs professional with more than 15 years’ experience in that field across Europe, Africa Middle and Asia Pacific. 

Passionate by Sustainable Development, she will talk about HEINEKEN ambition to Brew a Better World and the group’s journey towards Carbon Neutrality. She will share the brewer’s experiences including initiatives already implemented by the group in Cambodia and its expectations for the future.  

Mr Thomas HUNDT, Chief Executive Officer, Smart Axiata 

Having held key management positions in Siemens AG’s Communications Division and at Nokia Siemens Network, Thomas has accrued vast experience in the telecommunications industry. He has been the CEO of Smart Axiata, Cambodia’s leading mobile network operator, for over 13 years, and since January 2020, Thomas has also been the Group Executive Vice President for Technology at Axiata Group Berhad.
