On 11th November, EuroCham co-organized the first “National Conference on Consumer Protection”, with the aim of “Driving a Consumer-First Environment in Cambodia”. The event was organised with the Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate General (CCF) under the Ministry of Commerce (MoC), and made possible thanks to the GIZ PROTECT project.
As a celebration of Cambodia’s achievements in implementing the Law on Consumer Protection, the event saw 90 people join at the Raffles Hotel Le Royal, and another 190 via Zoom.
The full-day conference discussed the Law on Consumer Protection, the establishment of the National Commission for Consumer Protection (NCCP) and the National Consumer Protection Program (NCPP), and discussed the challenges & opportunities presented by the rise of e-commerce. The event finished on a high, with a presentation on the establishment of Cambodia’s first consumer association, which is planned to launch in early 2022.
We were privileged to be joined by H.E. PHAN Oun, Director-General of the Consumer Protection, Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate General (CCF), within the MOC, as well as other leading experts from the National Bank of Cambodia, Ministry of Post and Telecommunications, Ministry of Health, Sethalay Law Office, Profitence Cambodia Co. Ltd, CWEA – Cambodia Women Entrepreneurs Association, Quantum Endorphine Digital, Cambodian Institute for Research and Development (CIRD), and Federation of Malaysian Consumers Associations – FOMCA.
