European Business Organization Worldwide Network (EBOWWN) meets in Beijing

The European Business Organization Worldwide Network (EBOWWN) including EuroCham executive director Ratana Phurik-Callebaut met from November 12 to 14, 2015 in Beijing for its annual regional conference. The conference was joined by representatives of the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepeneurship and SMEs, including Deputy Director General Antti Peltomaki and Mr Philippe de-Taxis-du-Poet. The dominating topic of the first day was Economic Diplomacy where new information and views were shared how to implement related activities effectively on the ground in third-markets.

The EBO representatives met on Friday, November 13, 2015 the Designate President of The Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) Mr Jin Liqun to learn more about the AIIB’s mission and planned activities. This was followed by a visit to the China Institute of International Studies which provided valuable insights into the “one-road-one-belt”- initiative of the Chinese government. The European Union Chamber of Commerce in China also arranged for further presentations with the China IPR SME Helpdesk and the EU SME Centre. Before the conference concluded, the European Chamber Union Chamber of Commerce in China also gave a presentation on its lobby success and the approaches it uses for advocacy.
