Rising Cost Pressures on EuroCham Members: Impacts, Risks, and Policy Recommendation

EuroCham recently conducted a spot survey among members which explores how rising operational costs driven by increased energy prices are affecting businesses in Cambodia.

The early results point to clear and widespread pressure across supply chains. The most common impact reported is increased supplier prices (69.5%), indicating broad cost pass-through across the value chain. In addition, 33.9% of respondents reported delays or disruptions, signalling reduced reliability in day-to-day operations.

Other notable impacts include changes in supplier contract terms (18.6%) and reduced availability of goods or services (18.6%), both of which suggest tightening supply conditions and growing uncertainty in procurement planning. At the same time, 22% of businesses reported no significant impact, highlighting uneven exposure across sectors and business models.

Sector-level insights further illustrate the breadth of these pressures. Agriculture is facing sharp increases in fuel and fertiliser costs, while manufacturing is being affected by higher logistics and energy expenses. In tourism, demand pressures are outweighing relatively stable cost inputs. The construction sector is reporting rising material costs and shorter supplier terms, contributing to project delays, while consumer goods businesses continue to face price increases and import-related supply disruptions.

Overall, the findings suggest that rising energy-driven costs are not only increasing operational expenses, but are also actively reshaping supply chain stability, supplier relationships, and business planning across Cambodia’s economy.
