The Giving Tree International School Extends Learning Journey to Grade 7 with Middle Years Program

Phnom Penh, Cambodia – September 2026 – The Giving Tree International School (TGTIS) has expanded its educational offering to include Grade 7, extending its International Baccalaureate learning pathway into the Middle Years Programme (MYP) for the 2026–27 academic year.

The development marks a natural next step for the Phnom Penh school, allowing students and families to remain within the Giving Tree community for longer while continuing an inquiry-based approach to learning.

The Giving Tree is an authorised International Baccalaureate (IB) World School for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and has built its educational philosophy around curiosity, independent thinking and the development of the whole child. The addition of Grade 7 enables the school to carry these principles forward as students move into the next stage of their education.

Importantly, the school says its growth is not about becoming bigger for the sake of expansion.

“Many of our children have grown up with us, and families have told us that they want to continue their educational journey within the same community,” said Daniel Cullinan, Head of School at The Giving Tree International School. “Grade 7 is a response to that. We want students to be challenged academically as they grow older, while still feeling known, supported and comfortable in the environment around them.”

Founded in Phnom Penh in 2008, The Giving Tree was created around the idea that an international education could be high quality, nurturing and accessible to a broad community of families. That philosophy remains central to the school as it develops its Middle Years offering.

The school continues to prioritise a community-focused environment in which teachers know their students well, parents are active partners in learning, and children are encouraged to explore, question and develop confidence at their own pace.

Maintaining a comparatively accessible fee structure also remains an important part of the school’s approach. Rather than positioning the introduction of Grade 7 as a move towards becoming a larger or more exclusive institution, TGTIS sees it as a way to provide continuity for families already seeking an IB education within a close-knit school environment.

“Growing carefully matters to us,” Cullinan added. “We want to preserve the warmth, relationships and sense of belonging that families associate with The Giving Tree. As our students grow, we want the school to be able to grow with them.”

The Giving Tree International School is located in BKK1, Phnom Penh, and provides education from Early Years through Primary School and now into Grade 7.
