On 25 June 2021, EuroCham, in collaboration with GIZ ARISE+ Cambodia, successfully organised the second of our SME Export Talks on “Standards & Certifications for Export”. We welcomed over 130 live attendees.

Mr. Stephan MOREELS from Control Union kicked off the webinar by introducing the complex topic, defining the terms, and explaining the various certifications available to each sector. He also explained the benefits of being certified, such as increased credibility, product quality, safety, higher value sales, and many more.

Ms. TOU Tony, one of Cambodia’s first standard & certification consultants, then ran us through the role of pre-audits in preparing for a formal certification. Ms. Tony shared the common challenges she sees SMEs face when applying for certification, but also provided practical tips for companies to make the process easier.

Finally, we ended with a success story. Mrs. THLANG Sovann Pisey from Khmer Organic Cooperative shared her experiences obtaining external certification, leading to increased visibility and exports for her organisation.
